stolen from a book

i am no god believer but i liked this small passage i stole from a book called "The prayer of the frog" by Anthony De Mello(i am not responsible if he too stole it from somewhere)

The prayer of a devotee to the Lord Vishnu
"Lord , I ask you to pardon me for three major sins: first , i went on pilgrimage to your many shrines, oblivious of your presence everywhere; second, i so often cried to you for help, forgetting that you are more concerned than i am about my welfare; and finally, here i am asking for forgiveness when i know that our sins are forgiven before we commit them"

good dose for all those crazy guys who believe in idol worship

Do you know your ROI?

Well, I call it CRR (not cash reserve ratio you geeks) child return rate. Parents will be shell shocked when they realize the amount they have spent on their child/children and that they would have been better off without one. I sound heartless…but you have to be practical sometimes, or just check out your “cost price”. I checked mine out and told my mom...And I asked her, “mom why did you give birth to me…you would have rather bought property in some prime location (I would prefer a Ferrari) .I started calculating the “fatka” my parents have had because of me .It came to about, 4 CRORES!!! (I have also taken into account the changing value of money and the interest they would have earned if deposited in a bank) I have not yet calculated the opportunity cost and cant do so too...It could have made them millions or even billions maybe and they might have been worlds richest, but they rather have me.

Coming back to the practical aspect. When am I going to recover all their money?(its not like they want it back, I just feel the need to find out my return rate)…I calculated and found out that if I am very optimistic, even then, not before I turn 30 would I be able to break even .Putting the intangible aspect into play (meaning-putting the amount your mom worked on u, from changing diapers to the every day dinner, all the hard work) then around 35 , counting the opportunity cost then maybe never..Not maybe…never. Its rightly said...You can never give back to your parents what they have given to you (unless your parents are like Benjamin button-when you will be young they will be old and when you will be old they will be young and so you can care for them the same way they did).

One final thought and some home work for you. Since most of us doing don’t believe anything without seeing some numbers, I think you will be totally satisfied after you have calculated your own life expenditure and get your real value so that my theory(yeh , I am really proud of having a theory of my own) is proved.

Once you’re done with all the painful (more painful for your parents, so don’t dare show it to them) calculation, I will ask you,

So what’s your rate of return dude?

education in India ....

"This blogpost may contain subject matter that is to aggressive for your liking ,it may also offend some,so read at ur own risk"
why isnt the education system made more practical rather than just mugging up theory and puking it all out on paper. And thats not all, you have to finish your puke within the time limit..lol...i know its gettin disgusting but actually that is a fact ..only thing the puke is written down on the paper neatly( ,which does nt make it look as bad as ....ok sorry, lets nt go there...
Yeh yeh we have a "great" past in terms of education but it might have been ok then, but now it needs changes or it needs to be changed altogether
By now you must have realized how much i hate the system(not only the education one, most of them, but for this post lets just concentrate on the system that students hate the most, ok i dont want to generalize it,at least i hate the system)
I have a lot to talk about this(not just because i need someone to blame for my results :P )and you might think what am i doing about it ..so..just for u..i am goin to give some easy and free(yeh, that ll make the universities happy...all they want is money or to save it from being used)suggestions...which i hope to implement some day...
as of now i need to run...yes..for another of those boring lectures ..
if u really like my blog(or even if u dont) please become a follower of my blog, please dont have any ego problems like, why shuold i "follow" his blog...being egoistic is not a good sign...:P
to become a follower u just have to go down to the end of the page and you ll see it there.."follow this blog"..thank you very much ;)
so til am back(yes i ll survive the lecture) and hopefully you are too
Ciao

5th post-easy no more...

Sometimes people spend so much time making plans in life that they don’t have time to execute those plans. I am also a patient to that kind of disease (yeh it is, very tough to cure).I had planned so much but have not done anything close to pass percentage, in simple words, all my plans have failed. Not just in one department of life but several of them, if not all. This has caused a recession in my life…lol.
One instance of my planning failure is my blog, I had planned to do so much but have not even started on what I had planned. Along with that I had planned to join a football team, talk about football(on my blog), football was my life at one time, but now I don’t even watch an ArsenaL match completely, maybe I have sacrificed my passion for my career, that’s what happens in India , you are judged only by your academic scores.
Everything is not coming as easy as it use to, I am getting a feel of what the real life is, the Mumbai life, a struggler’s life, its some what like a reality bite, it may be good, but it’s a very tough stage to handle. What u need most is patience. But that’s not all, beside’s that you have to work towards want you want. These 2 simultaneously are pushing you real hard to see what you are made up of.
Why does this happen ?,Maybe because I did not care for what I had earlier and was just happy with what I had thus I made my present (at that time)good but spoilt my future(my present now).
I spent my 2 weeks off from college just planning where to go, I spent weeks finding out what should I do…An internship or join a football team? Ended up doing none . I spent months thinking what kind of chic I want, in the end lost (not lost exactly) all what I had…lol. It’s good to laugh because that’s the only thing positive you can do, so that you can keep planning and finally come to the light at the end of the tunnel. Some people prefer not getting into the tunnel in the first place, but I say get into it, it’s like an adventure. If you don’t know what darkness is you wont value light (woahh…I can talk sense too)
Life is somewhat like a company, with its ups (prosperity) and downs (recession), the need for restructuring, planning is needed. So all I need to do is re structure my life and get back to business. BBA is good man, it helps you not only in managing companies but also your own life (just realized that), but don’t do it from nmims, specially those guys who are normal and need chics around them for motivation: P
This was a management blog in the true sense and I am most happy with this blog because I have made use of crappy economics.
Tips for dealing with the recession in life (those who don’t know what recession is, I envy your life, I wish I could be so “care a damn” like you)
-take everything positively
-be patient, there will be a recovery phase.
-If just this could help, I would have tried it myself
I know you are bored of all this gyaan, lecture. Next time I’ll surely talk about something lighter, ciao.

4th Post- Warming up…change…philosophical…non sense…different…

I was just reading my earlier posts, so that I refresh my brain to regain my flow of writing because it’s been more than a month since my last post. While reading I got a thought of “did I really write this?” I feel as if I am changed person now. You may find it funny but really I have changed a lot since the last month, not because I have gone through something drastic but just the normal movement of life has changed me, if u want proof then, you will realize yourself from my style of writing in this post and the earlier posts.

The reason for this could be that at this age (teenage), you are getting moulded and so you keep changing forms until you are satisfied with one and then stick to that for the rest of your life. I am not trying to make a point here; everything does not have to have one.
But I just made this observation while I was thinking of a topic to write on and found it very intriguing.

Why? Why have I changed ?or have I gone to the next level and matured as a person because honestly speaking I found that my earlier posts were too childish and dumb…lol and I don’t know how anybody could even read them forget liking ..Maybe that’s human nature that when you are in the present the past seems odd and you feel you were such a kid.

According to me the changes in me could have many reasons, the probable’s are-
-I was tensed (a week before my exams, as usual)
-Studied (I don’t always do that)
-I was not satisfied with my exams
-I have not played football since long now,
-Nothing went according to plan
-I chilled for a week (wasted time, literally, but you need that sometimes)
-Read a Sydney Sheldon book, damn, he writes super which made me realize what crap -I write causing a change in my form of writing
-Many more I don’t even remember now
Whatever are the reasons, if the change is for the better, I don’t mind it, no one would.
Maybe this is how you mature as a writer too, from very bad to bad to bearable to Ok to …good

This was a different kind of post(and a self obsessed one) but it was needed or else everything would sound the same old...Change is needed ;) if you did not like it then maybe you can’t deal with change..Haha... (Solution- read “who moved my cheese?”)

Another thing,
Everyone feels I need to get more sense into what I write
But I say
That’s the point of my writing
Everyone writes sense everywhere
But how will you realize that it is sense unless you read some non sense,
There has to be a balance
So I want to be different and write weightless non sense with some food for thought
Because sense is very common nowadays
Non sense is the uncommon one :P

Till next time, ciao.

3rd post-one of my articles....Live Life

I had written this when i was just developing the interest to write....so bear with it...
Here goes...
LIVE LIFE -By Shivam B Vij

The beginning of Life is the same for all. It is what you do with your life that makes it different from the others. In the beginning you might belong to the shy and reserve type of kid category or a very friendly and smiling kind of person or something else. At that age you are usually happy with your own world consisting of your family, friends, not to forget toys, games and loads of other fun stuff which you would like to take care of or just throw around here and there.

Slowly as you grow up…from a child to an adolescent to a mature human being, you start changing as a person too. the differences start becoming visible. You expand your circle to include more people into your life, becoming a friendlier, more understanding, and different kind of person. No one would ever believe that you are the same person who was once upon a time lost in his own world, doing silly things, crying for no rhyme or reason. This change in a person is not a one or two day affair. It’s a process...a Process of Life …wherein you learn the very many ways of life, only after leaving school …as before that it is just school, classes and television for most people living in Mumbai.

Once you are about to get into college you start realizing what the real world is made up of, traveling in buses, and trains in a place like Mumbai is an experience by itself. Then there are problems, not only the math’s ones but also the ones with friends, family, society, etc. From then on it is only uphill, in terms of your experiences with life and learning the so called “lessons” of life.

However, life should never be a regret for you, love it now and forever. As of now life for us mainly consists of our hectic trimesters at NMIMS, some extra curricular and of course the opposite sex (girls are a big distraction). I am not mentioning family because that is a constant phenomenon. In a few years time it would be work, some thing you like doing and want to do, something like playing football, writing articles, etc.

But through all this I still haven’t figured out what life actually is, have you? When I think of it I think life is L, I, F, and E with a question mark .The question mark because I don’t know the exact definition. And I think no one does. We don’t know whether what we are living now is life or what we will live once we are out of NMIMS.

Everyone has a different meaning, sense, significance for life. For some it is chilling around with friends’, for some it is playing sports, for some being successful, famous etc etc. Whatever we say and think about life makes it all the more complicated. It is impossible to understand life in happening of just one particular event of life, reason being there are so many people who don’t get the actual significance of their life even after living it.

I don’t think this is anything new and that only I get such thoughts, but I think it is human nature, to question .Everyone has questions in there mind about what is the reason for their birth? What is there purpose in life, etc. Some questions can be answered some remain unanswered. I guess … Life is a journey of endless discovery where the journey is more important than the destination. That is the beauty of life.
i know it sucked but i wanted to keep the blog alive so i put this up...

2nd post-Scope of blog continued

Why isn’t there a device or software which registers all your thoughts? Or is there one?
Whether it’s there or not, I need it, because whenever I get an awesome thought (I feel it’s awesome, it doesn’t always turn out to be) and I want to put it down I feel damn lazy to type or write (another important subject for my blog”laziness”) and so I end up losing that super thought which could have changed the world.

Now that I have started this blog with all the enthusiasm and josh, I am feeling that writing a blog is not as easy as it sounds, it’s a big responsibility type of thing where you have to keep updating, which involves a lot of WORK which I feel lazy to do. Specially when there is no monetary motivation or even some other kind of motivation, like ,someone telling me “hey why don’t you start a blog and I’ll give you a PS2 and for every update 1 new game and after that when you are a lil famous you’ll get a PS3 “
Anyone who likes what I write (there must be some at least) and has a little sympathy for me can do that for me, and I assure you I’ll post everyday.

Lets get back to the ‘scope of blog’ .You must be thinking (I know you are not thinking, actually I am only thinking) this guy is adding topics when the hell is he going to write on them? Don’t worry I will. I am just putting down all what I can write on, then I will start writing, reason being, I like a structured and organized approach (thank you BBA for giving me this systematic thinking).Talking about all this I got another area to cover, MBA But before that you have to cross the dreaded kali billi ka rasta (I mean CAT, for those who dint get it). After we help each other get into one of the premier institutes (thanks to my blog that is ;) and you graduate from there, then you can have all the fun in your life, that’s what parents and teachers say and they are always right. So study hard now and don’t bunk college or let a super cute girl copy from your mathematics paper during your 12th board examination. I was being sarcastic, are you mad to study and work and all now? When will you enjoy looking at all the hot college girls, cars, and most importantly hang out with your friends? You think you can do that once your working? If you think you will then maybe you inherit ambani’s property or something

You will have to run the rat race (as they call it, I prefer F1 it’s faster and fun) whether you like it or not, to get all those luxuries you are getting now for free (you know whom to thank for that) Enough of this boring lecture which you get from everywhere already (it was just to show off my maturity levels, I am not really interested in helping you enjoy life, I have to 1st do that myself..Haha)

From the above paragraph you can know that I am such a life saver (it was nothing so stop thanking me).I have just saved you from some of your lectures (I have not told you to bunk all, just some, so don’t blame me later, even if you do, I will put a disclaimer here to avoid that problem)

I think this much is enough for now, as most people get scared of the length of the article and so end up not reading (I am one of those people).I have yet again not covered all what I wanted to and so I will continue scope of blog (its not that boring and I think whole of September I’ll be covering that only) in post 3.

Thank you for your comments (for people who liked my 1st post) and for those who dint, you’ll can also give me comments, so that I can know who these ****** are….lol.
No but seriously comment so that I can have motivation to get your compliments too. This sounded too despo for comments but start writing a blog and then you’ll know the value of “comments”.

So till next time (come next time, it’s a very easy domain name to remember)
Ciao.
